Earlier today, DeviantArt released an announcement explaining what "Core Membership Is..." To complement that announcement, I've penned a few of my own thoughts about what Core Membership means to me.
DeviantArt owes its existence to its community. The inspiring, pulsating life force that began 15 years ago with a small group of artists and art appreciators has grown more than anyone could have ever imagined. A true force of motivation and support on the Web, our community is one-of-a-kind in its service to the artistic greater good. And it always has been.
Whether you take the extra moment to answer a Note from a student of art hoping to
The DeviantArt Timeline entries from the past few months have discussed how we’re focusing on user experience for DeviantArt and ways to make the site more intuitive. Scheduled Maintenance and Read-Only Mode
DeviantArt will be undergoing scheduled maintenance on Monday, July 27th from approximately 10:00 PM to 11:59 PM Pacific.
During this time, DeviantArt.com and the DeviantArt Mobile App will be in read-only mode — you'll be unable to submit, comment, or +fav deviations (or take other actions that require being logged-in.) However, you'll still be able to browse and search the site, and we encourage you to find and share artwork that you enjoy, bringing attention to artists you love!
This scheduled maintenance will allow us to test changes to our backend systems to make DeviantArt faster and more reliable. Rest assured that none of your

The DeviantArt Mobile App: What's to Come
With the newly introduced DeviantArt Mobile App for Android and iOS, our goal was to bring you a better, fresher, yet familiar DeviantArt experience — providing more power to do what you want and, more importantly, create deeper connections between your friends and favorite artists. We have plenty of plans for the future — including Notes and Push Notifications, which didn’t make it into the first version — and we want to hear what you’d like to see next to help shape the future of the app.

This website feels much different when one does not work for it, at least in this current period in time. Maybe it was different in the past. It's going through growing pains at the moment. When I worked for DA, right until the end, I felt like the site was very active and alive, because I could see that from that very exclusive perspective. By now, I can't see and feel that anymore. DeviantArt's actual activity and liveliness is not reflected in the site's most prominent portals.
The Today page content spans weeks and generously includes a sliver of actual community activity at the bottom, Watch is what you choose, Browse is just that, Undi
